Fly into Hilo airport, on the island of Hawaii.

Out of the airport turn left at the first traffic light onto Highway 11 and go about 5.5 miles.  Turn left onto Keaau-Pahoa Rd. (Highway 130) towards Pahoa.  You will be bypassing Pahoa as you are driving 20 miles to Kalapana.  There is a funny left-right jog just past the church to approach the ocean (sign says Kalapana - Kaimu).  Turn left onto Highway 137 towards Kapoho for 3.5 miles and look for Seaview sign on left in a grassy park.  Turn left into subdivision and an immediate left on Mapuana Rd.  Drive up the hill to the 11th street, Kehauopuna St. and turn left.   Our red cinder driveway is a continuation of that street.  It weaves into the jungle and some never leave!  Here's a map.

We recommend renting a car.  The cheapest reservations are sometimes available through Hawaiian or Aloha airlines when you book your inter-island flights, and sometimes via the Internet.
